  •  During 2018, the industry destined US$51.0 billion in Research & Development (R&D), creating 1.7 million jobs and a US$92.0billion economic contribution

  •  Between 2014and 2018the industry had a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 1.0%

  •  Expected growth in 2019 of ~2.7%; moreover, compounded annual growth rate for the 2020-2027 period of 5.3%

  •  China Petroleum and Chemicals Corporation (SINOPEC) is positioned as the company with the highest total sales as of June of the current year, with a value of US$443.8billion

 

MEXICAN CHEMICAL INDUSTRY

 

  • The chemicals industry contributed 2.1% to the Mexican GDP during 2018, and represented 10% of the national manufacturing production

  •  As of 2018, +5,000 companies operate in the Chemical Industry in Mexico, of which, 65% are concentrated in the states of Estado de Mexico, CDMX,Jalisco, Nuevo Leon, Guanajuato, Puebla and Veracruz

  •  Industry revenue is expected to grow by 5.7%during the 2018- 2023period

  •  Imports and exports increased 3.9% and 3.1%, respectively, during 2018; Moreover, the national consumption of the industry grew by 1.1%

  •  During 2018the industry invested US$2.7billions, which represent a 46.3%growth from 2017
